Kids Yoga Classes in Morningside Gardens are about to start!
Kids yoga in Morningside Gardens is about to start! These classes are for 4-7 years old.
It will take place Fridays 4:00-4:45 pm in 80 80 Lasalle St., Thurgood Marshall Room. (Between Broadway and Amsterdam)
The classes have a strong emphasis on music as a way to make yoga really fun. Songs are choreographed with yoga poses. Children jump like rocket ships, stand like trees, fly like butterflies and swim like fish, whales and sharks. The classes incorporate individual, partner and group poses and games as well as breathing exercises, mindfulness and meditation.
Kids yoga has numerous benefits. On the physical level, it develops coordination, strength, flexibility and balance. But it can also contribute to improved focus, concentration, ability to stay calm and relaxed and it can develop imaginative play, self-esteem and body awareness.
Tuition: $150 for the 10 weeks ($100 for second child). Pay by Check (Sonia Pereira) or cash.
Dates: Classes start on Friday September 20th and run for 10 weeks. First class is free. (Sept. 27th; Oct., 4,11,18, 25; Nov. 1, 8, 15, 22,29)
Email: magasonia@yahoo.com to register for the trial class to ensure your spot (also let me know if you will need a yoga mat).

After the first weekend of my 200 hour training with 3 Sisters Yoga

I finished the first of the 7 weekends of my 200 hour yoga training today. My body feels great. My spirit fells great. My nervous system feels great. The physical exercises, the meditation and the breathing exercises do change the way I am able to stay calm. That is no small feat with the two adorable but high energy children I have. This may be just what I needed in my own life, my own practice, perhaps even my own marriage, since my husband will be my primary student! Check my blog: inspirationforchange.org for more…
